Course Objectives :
- Determine the neurological level and classification of spinal cord injury using ASIA scale guidelines as provided by the International Standards for Neurological Classification of Spinal Cord Injury (ISNCSCI) in assessing a spinal cord injury patient
- Describe the functional outcomes for all levels of spinal cord injury and provide appropriate treatment interventions as required
- Be familiar with various medical complications that impact on the SCI patients care and treatment
- Detect autonomic dysreflexia and orthostatic hypotension and provide appropriate manner
- Highlight the consequences of Pain on SCI patients and explore appropriate management
- Provide appropriate and progressive intervention to SCI patients with paraplegia and tetraplegia through evidence based methods
- Describe 3-5 appropriate adaptive equipment options for patients with spinal cord injury
- Describe mobility progression of patients with imcomplete SCI
- Instruct and Assist the SCI patients in performing basic and advanced wheelchair skills and appropriate transfers
- Identify and apply appropriate hand splinting techniques for tetraplegia patients
