" Rapid Sequence Analysis for Infectious Diseases and Clinical Research Using Oxford Nanopore/MinION Sequencing"

Venue: Faculty of Medicine- 3rd floor- Room 306

Organized by : King Fahad Medical City

Objectives :

  • To focus on the general application of Next Generation Sequencing(NGS) approaches to understand the underlying pathology of Infectious diseases, with particular focus on MinION sequencing . This is a new bench top and field portable sequencing system.
  • To perform hands on MinION NGS to characterise clinically relevant samples. This will be to identify the type of data and questions that can be obtained and answered, espically in a healthcare and infectious disease outbreak setting.
  • The workshop will include sequencing of exemplar samples using MinION sequencing on a small group basis. This will give delegates the experience of how to operate the MinION sequencer. Also, the workshop will present several case studies to illustrate these considrations and help participants practice how the data can be analysed.
